Northwest Center provides early intervention for children from birth to age three. Services include: developmental assessment, speech therapy, occupational therapy, special education, family support and family resources coordination. If you have any questions about your child’s development, please call us at 206-286-2322 or e-mail us to discuss your concerns.
We believe that each child has unique strengths and potential for development. Each family has a desire for their child to grow and be happy and healthy. When families suspect that their child may have a developmental delay or they learn their child has a diagnosis of a neurological or chromosomal disorder, it can be reassuring to access professionals who are able to address a family's concerns.
The purpose of the early intervention program at Northwest Center Child Development Program is to help guide families through a process of early detection of a developmental delay, discussion of the family’s priorities, evaluation, and planning and implementing goals that are important to the family.
Our early intervention services are a collaborative effort between skilled therapists, teachers and families. The early intervention team includes: speech therapists, occupational therapists, special educators, classroom teachers and family resources coordinators.
We believe children learn from their environment and the individuals who are closest to them. A parent or primary caregiver is a child’s first and most important teacher. That’s why our early intervention team works closely with the important people in a child’s life—to achieve the goals that are important to each family. Our aim is to help families get the most out of daily activities and routines to encourage interaction and independence in their children.
