Family Engagement & Volunteering
Parent Program
The NWC Kids Parent Program is a great way for families to get involved with their child’s learning, and the Northwest Center Kids community. We strive to create a foundation of support for children and families, by providing ongoing opportunities to engage and interact throughout the year. These opportunities include: family meetups, family classes and parent training. Parent program events and activities are free for families.

Family Meetups
Once a month, families are encouraged to meet us at a predetermined location (i.e. library, park, etc.) where we provide fun and engaging activities for children and a chance for families to connect with one another in a casual setting. Parents and children can meet and mingle with other families from our Chinook and Greenwood Early Learning locations, along with families in our Early Intervention program. |
Family Classes
Family classes are offered throughout the year for parents, caregivers and their children. Family classes are a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to engage in fun learning experiences together. Previous family classes have included cooking, yoga, tide pool explorations and many more! |
Parent Trainings
Parent training classes are intended for adults only, giving parents the opportunity to gather helpful resources, ask pressing questions, and receive information on a variety of topics in a more formalized setting. . We invite experts from the community to address questions and concerns about topics of interest, while providing resources specific to the training topic. |
Volunteer Program
The vision of our volunteer program is to involve people in our mission by engaging the diverse array of abilities, knowledge, and expertise within the community. We believe that everyone has gifts and strengths worth sharing. Our volunteer program is an opportunity for community members to showcase their skills, and experiences, while experiencing the power of inclusion.
Volunteer Role and Expectations
We are always looking for enthusiastic people to volunteer in our classrooms. Volunteers are active members of the classroom who play and interact with the children. We want volunteers to have fun, ask questions, and feel like a member of the Northwest Center Kids community! Our most successful volunteers talk, play, and read books with the children while following the lead of the teachers in the classroom. We are also always looking for volunteers who have special skills or knowledge (like playing a musical instrument) who are willing to share those skills with the children. |
