Grant Roundup! Community Partners Investing in Children and Families at Northwest Center

At Northwest Center, we know that meaningful impact is never made alone. It’s made through partnerships with organizations and community leaders who believe in inclusion, early learning, and strong supports for children and families.

We’re grateful to share recent funding support from three generous partners whose investments help expand opportunities for children with disabilities and strengthen the services that families rely on every day.

Muckleshoot Indian Tribe (Charity Fund)Supporting therapy for children with disabilities, ages 0-3

We are honored to receive a grant from the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Charity Fund to support Northwest Center’s Early Supports program, which serves children with disabilities and their families during critical early years of development.

The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe has long recognized the importance of proactively meeting the needs of our community. Through the Muckleshoot Charity Fund, the Tribe prioritizes funding for organizations addressing local and regional issues across key areas including Education, Health and Human Services, Culture, Arts, Communities of Color, Native American Programs, Environmental initiatives, and Civic/Community Advocacy.

This support helps strengthen the services our Early Supports team provides, so that children and families have access to early interventions, resources, and care that help every child thrive.

Thank you to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and the Muckleshoot Charity Fund for investing in children, families, and inclusive communities.

Whole Foods Market Foundation: Community Giving for Chinook Early Learning Center

Northwest Center’s Chinook Early Learning Center has been selected as the winner of a Whole Foods Market store giving campaign, thanks to the incredible advocacy of one of our own team members, Chef Marcelo Oba.

Marcelo, who works at Northwest Center and Whole Foods Market, nominated Chinook and went above and beyond rallying coworkers, encouraging votes, and helping spread the word throughout his store community. Because of his dedication and the support of his Whole Foods team, Chinook will receive funds through the Whole Foods Market Foundation store giving program, helping strengthen early learning opportunities for the children and families we serve. Having support to purchase healthy, fresh fruits and vegetables makes a meaningful difference in children’s wellbeing every day.

Chinook is a place where children thrive, and we’re proud of the exceptional care and education provided there every day. Recently, Chinook earned a Level 5 Early Achievers rating, the highest level of quality recognition in Washington state, highlighting the center’s commitment to excellence in early childhood education.

Thank you, Marcelo, and thank you to the Whole Foods team members who voted and supported Chinook. We’re so grateful for your belief in our mission.

Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund: Early Learning Scholarships

Northwest Center has been awarded a generous grant from the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund.

This investment supports scholarships for families to attend Chinook Early Learning Center, and we’re honored to be among the organizations Weyerhaeuser supports through its commitment to building stronger places to live and work.

Weyerhaeuser has been growing forests and producing a sustainable supply of wood for homes and countless other products for more than a century. The company’s Giving Fund supports hundreds of important organizations and programs in the communities where they operate with funding, time, expertise, and resources. In 2024, the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund donated a total of $6.5 million in charitable grants, partnerships, matching gifts, research support, in-kind donations and sponsorships to organizations throughout the United States and Canada.

Thank you to the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund for your partnership and for helping advance opportunities, inclusion, and community wellbeing for scholarships that help families in our Chinook Early Learning Center.

Thank You to Our Partners

These grants represent more than funding – they represent trust, shared values, and commitment to the community. We are deeply grateful to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Charity Fund, Whole Foods Market Foundation, and Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund for supporting children and families through Northwest Center.

Together, we are building a more inclusive future for one child, one family, and one opportunity at a time.
