Currently, Northwest Center serves customers referred from the Department of Disabilities Administration for employment services. Customers in this program are assisted in seeking and keeping competitive employment by our job developers and job coaches. Some of our clients who we serve have been in Individual Supported Employment for over 10 years. Northwest Center in Omak also provides Community Access opportunities for clients with the goal of assisting customers to be included in their community. Clients are introduced to community activities and individuals with whom they can interact who are not paid to be with them. DDA works in conjunction with Okanogan Behavioral Healthcare, which also oversees and audits Northwest Center’s services.
Northwest Center also receives referrals from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for a variety of opportunities to assist folks with their initial start, or return into the work force. These include: Community Based Assessments, Trial Work Assessments, Job Placement Service, Retention and Intensive Training, as well as Independent Living Services. We also receive referrals from Omak and Okanogan School Districts for our School-to-Work program. Northwest Center places these students in work situations and ideally in paid employment while working on a variety of pre-employment skills with them; keeping foremost the goal of obtaining employment for these students once they have left school. |
